The OPENING (NON-COMPETITIVE) CONCERT will feature rounded programmes typical of the countries from which the choirs come.

In the competition part, in the category COMPULSORY PROGRAMME, they will perform a piece by Jacobus Handel – Gallus of their choice, a piece from the Romantic period of their choice and the compulsory piece of the competition; this year it is an arrangement of the folk song from Adrijanci, North-East Slovenia Godec pred peklom by the Slovene composer Nana Forte.

The FREE PROGRAMME will offer art compositions of your own choice, performed a cappella.

The final COMPETITION FOR THE GRAND PRIX of the 17th International Choral Competition Galllus – Maribor 2023 will be open to up to five ensembles with the highest overall average score of the competition in the compulsory and free programmes, as selected by the jury. The programme of at least three compositions, one of which may be a folk song, will, as always, be a particular challenge for the singers and conductors.
